Confidence comes from the fact that our faith is based on Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul told the church at Corinth that no other foundation can be laid than that of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 3:11). Later, to the church at Ephesus Paul writes that we are a church built on the foundations of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus being the chief corner stone (Eph. 2:21). By the time of Christ the Old Testament writings had been well accepted. The Gospels and letters of the apostles which would become the New Testament canon told us more about God’s revelation to us and the work of the Triune God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
